How to apply the Ba Gua to your floor plan?

The ba gua, also known as the eight trigrams, is a fundamental concept in traditional Chinese philosophy and feng shui. It is a representation of the fundamental principles of reality, and it is often used in various forms of divination and as a guide for the design of buildings and other structures.

To apply the ba gua to your floor plan, you can use the following steps:

  1. Start by drawing a simple diagram of your floor plan, including all the walls, doors, windows, and other important features.

  2. Draw a circle in the center of the diagram, with a diameter that is roughly one-third the width of the diagram.

  3. Divide the circle into eight equal sections, using a compass or a straightedge.

  4. Label each section with one of the eight trigrams of the ba gua, starting with qian (乾) in the top section and moving clockwise around the circle. The other trigrams, in order, are kun (坤), zhen (震), xun (巽), kan (坎), li (离), gen (艮), and dui (兑).

  5. Use the ba gua to guide the placement of the various rooms and features in your floor plan. For example, you might place the kitchen in the section associated with the trigram kan (坎), which represents water and the element of danger, or you might place the bedroom in the section associated with the trigram zhen (震), which represents thunder and the element of movement.

  6. Adjust the placement of doors, windows, and other important features in your floor plan to align with the principles of the ba gua. For example, you might place a window in the section associated with the trigram qian (乾), which represents heaven and the element of air, to allow positive energy to flow into the space.

  7. Once you have applied the ba gua to your floor plan, you can further enhance the positive energy in the space by incorporating other principles of feng shui, such as the use of color, the placement of plants and decorations, and the orientation of the space relative to the cardinal directions.

It is important to note that the application of the ba gua to your floor plan is not a precise science, and the results will vary depending on a variety of factors, such as the specific layout of your space and your personal preferences and goals. It is best to consult with a qualified feng shui expert if you have specific questions or concerns about how to apply the ba gua to your floor plan.
